It's that time again and it's looooonnnnnng overdue. Here goes my first Random Thoughts Note for the month of October. Did you miss me last month? I missed you back! There is a lot for me to catch up on and I know I'm maaaaad late with some of it, but here goes anyway...

1. WTF is up with the private security guard dudes in Kabul?!?!? REALLY?!?!? Is this what we are supposed to expect to take place in a war zone??? I mean this wouldn't be acceptable even if we weren't at war. My issue is that half of the men are married and somehow thought it was a good idea to pour vodka down each others' backs and drink it from the cracks of each others' arses. Say WHAT?!?!? What pisses me off even more than this crazy bacchanalian behavior is that OUR TAX MONEY is paying for this crap. If you don't believe me, take a look at it yourself... Ugh...

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/popup?id=8475646

2. Ok, I've gotta beef with my fellas for just one minute. Yes, I know, just call me Neek the Male Basher. If I didn't love y'all so much, I wouldn't mention it. Is it really too much for women to expect you to be more detailed? It's like the word "detail" is not part of your vocabulary. Can you guys make a pact to at least TRY to incorporate DETAILS in your daily living at least ONCE in 2010? Y'all got 3 months to prepare yourself for this seemingly insurmountable task. Y'all can start by doing it ONCE a year and then maybe gradually move into once a month and on the highest end of the expectations scale, bi-weekly??? Then again, I guess you guys trying to be detailed would make y'all women and not the wonderful men you are. Okay, nix this idea. Carry on.

3. Rush Limbaugh is a DOUCHE.

4. Glenn Beck... REALLY?!?!? Now you KNOW he is something special when some of the people in his own party are looking at him like he's smoking crack. Yeah Glenn, we're gonna keep our kids at home and allow educational neglect to take place so that our president doesn't brainwash our kids with his socialist agenda. STFU and go kick rocks, DUMMY.

5. Are Republicans really Christian??? Ionno.................. I'M....JUST....SAYING.....
...............

6. Ok, I know I said I only had to beef with you fellas for one minute, but I lied. LOL Too many of y'all are either real sloppy or don't give a rat's arse that your woman can see you clearly, openly and obviously checking out other women while you are with them. Is this what's hot in the streets now? Word. Where the heck have I been? I guess I've lived on Planet Naive for most of my adult life because last time I checked discretion was a good skill to practice. That thing boils my blood. I suppose getting looked at can be considered a compliment but is it THAT serious that you need to do it and daggone near catch whiplash when you are with another woman? T&A is NOT that serious. Or maybe for y'all it is. As I've said before... Fellas please do not hold me responsible when your lady hauls off and slaps your monkey arse for being so rude.

7. Did I mention that Rush Limbaugh was a douche? Oh, OK, just checking.

8. I'm so not a Yankees fan but at this point I'd rather see them take it all than anyone else, especially my Mets' rivals, the Sillies. Looks like A-Rod may actually have a chance at breaking his postseason curse. But then again, it ain't over til it's over and who knows how much HGH is involved especially while he was recuperating from his injury. We'll soon see if he's IN THE CLEAR.

Ok. I'm done with my rant................... FOR NOW...

Random Thoughts 8/6/09

Ok so it's been a minute since I've shared my last set of random thoughts but that doesn't mean I haven't had any over the past couple of weeks. So here goes...

1. Yo, I'm soooooo not mad at the kids in the street making their money off of Poland Spring. When they sell an entire case of 24, they profit 600%. Now how's THAT for entrepreneurship? Now if they could only figure out a way to bottle their own water kinda like Dasani and Aquafina do with the city's tap water, they'd be RICH!!! As long as they don't go out like the little buggers in Slumdog Millionaire when they were refilling plastic water bottles with dirty tap water and gluing the tops on, I'd support their efforts!

2. Ok, as if sagging pants are not bad enough... I completely DRAW THE LINE when I see a fool pushing 40 with his arse completely out. Exactly WHAT are you advertising? Your dingy drawls? I mean, COME ON. Act like you have some sense about you and pull them thangs up! I swear I wish sagging pants were against the law. Maybe this world would be a better place or at least my excessive eye-rolling could come to a halt. Ugh...

3. I love Barack but dag nabbit, I'm gonna need him and his people to stop flooding my inbox. For the love of God, I still feel like I am working on his campaign. Yes, I DID volunteer my time by phonebanking and donating several times to his campaign. At this point, I think it's about time I got started on my own political career. What say you? Neek for Councilwoman in 2011? Nah, I'm good.

4. Speaking of Barack, let's talk about health care. Health care NEEDS to be reformed in this country. Period. End of story. These insurance companies are getting away with too daggone much for them not to be regulated in some fashion. Now I haven't read through the entire 1000 page plan but I tell you what, I'm not 100% for everything that I have seen in it so far. Let's keep it real though. The Constitution ain't all that foolproof neither. I believe slavery is still legal. (Yeah, y'all might wanna read up on that.) But I gotta recognize that sometimes we've gotta take the good with the bad. I am pro-CHOICE but personally do not believe that we should pay for women's abortions unless in cases of some type of health complication, rape or incest. Let's face it. There are some women out there that use abortion as birth control and I don't think my tax dollars should support that. If you're out there getting it in, protect yourself from unwanted pregnancies BEFORE you get pregnant or just stop getting it in. Otherwise, pay for that joint your daggone self!

5. Does T.O. have any friends that he does not have to pay to be his friend?

6. Did Run's son Jojo really stop smoking weed or did he just get better at being discreet about it?

7. What is really good with Tiny? Why is she so unfortunate looking? And why does she sound like that?

8. Why are so many people complaining about their jobs??? I was at the Tow Pound a few weeks ago and the guy that allows you onto the paddy wagon to ride around the lot to locate your car was complaining about having to leave his wife and kids home while he worked there from 8pm to 4am. I told his little 5'5" arse to shut it up because NOBODY in here wants to hear about your WORK WOES when 1. Everybody in here just became $250 poorer and 2. Some of these same people are like Tommy from Martin and AIN'T GOT NO JOB!!! I told Tall Midget Rafael Ortiz (who I affectionately called Raffie) to be grateful for the job he had because it was either that or his family could think of him as a complete failure every time their stomachs growled because there was no food in the house.

9. Now if I've said it once, I've said it 1000 times... I NEED PEOPLE TO WEAR THEIR SIZE!!! Ok. That is all.

I'm done with my rant for the day. Back to your regularly scheduled programs.

What Gives?

I do not want to come across as a "Male Basher" but I really need to understand what is going on with the stronger sex. As a good friend once said (Hey Bee!), "What the hell is wrong with these men? Don't they know women do not ELECT to go to Crazyville... men like this DRIVE them there!" Now don't get me wrong... there ARE some crazy chicks out there but I am a strong believer that most have become that way because of some past experience(s) that have tainted their views of men. I am not one of these "There are NO GOOD MEN out there" chicks, and most of the women I associate myself with are not either. I do believe that quality people are hard to come by but the quality of people that you allow into your space is really contingent upon the vibes and energy that you put out there. I can go on for days about this but I won't. I'm going to get back to my original concern which is a need to understand WTF is up with the poor decision making of some of these men in the headlines. These are just a few examples of what I say happens to many of my testosterone-toting counterparts. Hard d%$ks make soft minds...

Exhibit A: Steve McNair... Y'all already know how I feel about that situation but I felt that it deserved honorable mention.

Exhibit B: Arturo Gatti - It is not my intent to disrespect my younger sisters out there but dang y'all are treacherous! His wife is being accused of killing this man by strangling him with a purse strap as he drunkenly slept. From what I've heard she got him into his drunken stupor. She made sure he was in a weakened state before she attacked. I suppose she would have to because killing a boxer can't possibly be an easy feat, even for an "amazon" like me, much less for a 23 year old chick who weighs a buck fifteen soaking wet.

IF (and I only say IF because one is innocent until proven guilty) his wife did kill him, I'm gon' tell you where Arturo went wrong. I understand that his relationship with Amanda Rodrigues was tumultuous from the start. She showed her crazy when she wanted him to cut ties with his daughter from a previous relationship. Why on Earth would a man even consider doing that for a woman? What woman IN HER RIGHT MIND would want to force her man to do such a thing?

Now I am fully aware that Gatti had some domestic abuse charges filed against him so I am in no way leaving him blameless. But honestly people, this makes me go back to something that I learned within recent years: Peace should be the initial organizing principle of your life. Before you act, ask yourself how it will impact your peace. This is something that Gatti clearly did not do. It is possible that because of his decision to stay with this woman, instead of living in peace, he is now, prayerfully, resting in it.

Amanda Rodrigues' sister Flavia was quoted as saying: "My sister, like us, is very religious and would be incapable of killing anyone." Ummm, let's not hide behind religion with this. That is not going to wash with a jury of her peers. Seriously, that would be like saying "religious" people do not molest children or commit adultery. Yeah... ok.

Exhibit C: Jon Gosselin (Jon and Kate Plus 8). Without the ink being fully dry on the divorce papers, he is seen traipsing around with a fine young 22 year old thang. There are rumors swirling about him possibly being engaged to her. Rumor has it that she is a "wild girl" so personally, if I were him, I wouldn't eff with her. But I digress. Ok, I admit, my digression in this particular situation is not for long. Ok, seriously? To Miss Hailey... There isn't enough money in the world a man with EIGHT KIDS could possibly have that would make me even HALFWAY interested in dating him, #1 and #2, to Jon... clearly YOU have not heard about what happens to considerably older men when they date anyone born in the late 80's - early 90's. Dummy.

Exhibit D: Tony Romo - Did y'all hear about the Dallas Cowboys quarterback dumping Jessica Simpson on the eve of her 29th birthday and big Ken and Barbie-themed birthday bash? Whoa... Supposedly, Romo was upset that JS still had contact with her ex-BF John Mayer. Now would this be considered some type of insecurity on his part? Perhaps. We all have our own insecurities to deal with. I think the bigger issue is how we choose to keep them at bay. I don't know what their relationship was like but I do recall hearing about Jessica Simpson "wildin' out" in Hollywood after her divorce from Nick Lachey. All I'm saying is, if that is true, Tony Romo knew what and who he was getting into when he decided to be with this chick. Don't act all surprised and hurt now!

I know you Dallas fans are like: "Woo-hoooo! Good Riddance to the Black Widow!", but y'all need to hold your horses. (Yes, I'm partially hating, as I AM a die-hard Giants fan LOL) Dumping a chick the day before her birthday is almost as tantamount as leaving her standing at the altar. Which takes me to the Jerk of the Week...

RICHARD JEFFERSON of The San Antonio Spurs... Despite the fact that I can't stand his ignorant arse for reasons I need not get into, I truly wonder if he is trying to become the next celebrity sports murder victim! The San Antonio Spurs forward was supposed to get married last Saturday, July 11th. He reportedly had cold feet and his former fiancee was also described as "not being totally caught off-guard" by his decision. Ummm, hello, McFly?!?!?! Why is it that some of Jefferson's closest friends didn't even know that he decided to backpedal before jumping the broom? But even worse... wait for it, wait for it, wait for it... HE BROKE IT OFF WITH HER VIA E-MAIL!!! That crap right there is something I'm sure will contribute to his former fiancee's tainted view (assuming it wasn't tainted before this...LOL) of the male gender. Who the hayale WILLINGLY takes a trip to Crazyville? No one I know. Well, Jefferson has reportedly given his ex an undisclosed amount of money since breaking up. Payment to avoid death a la McNair and Gatti? Quite possibly. Only he knows.

There's a thin line between love and hate...

I am having a love-hate relationship issues like a mug...

I love...
the way Judge Sonia Sotomayor speaks. She carefully chooses her words EVERY TIME she responds to those Senators' questions. It's almost like she is purposefully slowwwws dowwwwn her comments so as to shut her naysayers the FU, not allowing them to twist her words as they did when she made her "wise Latina" comment. I love her gangsta.

I hate...
Senator Lindsey Graham. He spoke to Ms. Sotomayor today as if she were a child on the short yellow bus. He was very condescending and I found it insulting that he felt the need to tell her what she should and should not do and what she should and should not think about. He is a jackarse. Personally, I need all Republicans from the state of South Carolina to FALL BACK. Especially since today I learned that while Governor Sanford was in Argentina getting his freak on with his soulmate, he ignored FIFTEEN phone calls from his Chief of Staff! WTF?!?! STFU and stay in your lane until your state can win back some respect.

I love...
Michael Jackson. Y'all KNOW I DO!!! He was an absolutely amazing talent and his music WILL live on forever. This may sound weird but I feel like a piece of me died right along with him. As a matter of fact, I don't know too many mega fans who don't feel this way too. RIP Michael Joseph Jackson.

I hate...
the fact that Debbie Rowe reportedly just settled for $4M to drop the custody battle against MJ's mama, Katherine. Really, I don't think she ever had a chance to win that battle but I can kinda sorta understand why Katherine backpedaled. She is getting too up in age to be going to the courthouse e'eryday amid reporters, paparazzi and the like. Even if this turns out to be untrue, the fact of the matter is that D. Rowe is looking to benefit from this in SOME way. Why else would her name be in the headlines every freaking day? EFF YOU DEBBIE ROWE! There is a special spot in hell waiting for you.

I love...
that Sarah Palin is in the news again. She's my she-ro! NOT! But, she IS very entertaining to say the least.

I hate...
that Sarah Palin is in the news again giving female politicians a bad name. What is this I'm hearing about her flip-flopping on the issues again? This is what happens when you allow other people to write and think for you. She supported the proposed cap and trade plan during the vice presidential debate, but today is quoted in the Washington Post as being all out against it! She's so dumb. Dag nabbit, she has BRICKS for BRAINS! Yeah, I said it

I love...
how shiznitty the GOP is looking these days. Between Dick Cheney's secret missions with the CIA, Senator John Ensign admitting through his lawyer that his parents had written a series of checks totaling nearly $100K to his former lover, her husband and her two children and Governor Sanford clearly being off his meds with that "soulmate" remark AMONGST OTHER THINGS, the party looks and sounds as dumb as John McCain did the night he referred to President Obama as "THAT ONE".

I hate...
MICHAEL STEELE. He's gonna bring "the fried chicken and potato salad" to the party when he attempts to "woo" more Blacks to join the GOP. This statement was made AFTER someone in the background shouted, "I'll bring the collard greens!" If y'all don't believe me just check it out for yourselves. I couldn't make this up if I tried. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2DJpcIu5cY&feature=player_embedded

Totally random...
I love...
my mother. Lord knows I do. BUT...

I hate...
that I have become her. ALL YOU LADIES OUT THERE KNOW EXAAAAACTLY what I'm talking about.

Thanks for reading my semi-daily diatribes. I sure do appreciate ya! Make today a great one people!!!

Random Thoughts 7/13/09

Ok so where do I begin? I'm gonna just dive right in.

GATDAMN REPUBLICANS!!!

1. Let's start with the stupid picture of our president SUPPOSEDLY looking at another woman's butt. We all know that still pics can be deceiving so I made sure I included the video that clears up the whole situation... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUFkpv6SlvI

Come on people... How many times has a pic been snapped of you and you LOOKED like you were doing or saying something that you weren't? If the Repubs are really tryna make a big deal out of this, good luck. Gov Sanford and Sen. Ensign have already trumped Obama in this department. (I'll get to THEM in a minute.) The truth of the matter is that our president will be scrutinized NO MATTER WHAT. I see those Re"snubs" aren't talking about how just after spending one day in Russia, Obama was able to get permission to fly over their air space to get to Afghanistan saving us $130M per year. Ummm yeah.

Hey Repubs... how does it feel for your country to be sorta kinda liked and respected again by other nations? All because you jerks are no longer at the helm. Wow... that must sting.

2. A good friend said "DEMs let REPs get away with maddddd isht, young! Do u think the GOP would've let the Sanford situation die this early, had he been a DEM? Or any of the other GOP blunders for that matter?" Personally, I'm not letting the Dems get off all that easily because they aren't all that squeaky clean themselves so they best to keep their mouths shut. It's only a matter of time before some shiznit hits the fan with one of them too. After all, what would partisan politics be without a good scandal on either side? The Dems had their Eliot Spitzer and The Pubs have good old Mark Sanford.

What eats me up about the Repubs is how they try to act like they have such high moral standards. Eff that damn Gov. Sanford because he was THEEEEE biggest advocate for getting Clinton impeached for getting his knob slobbed while on the job. You Mr. Sanford, yes, you, governor of the great state of South Carolina where thousands of license plates read "In God We Trust", left your job without putting ANYONE in charge and left the country without telling ANYONE where you were going to get your d&%k sucked by your "soulmate". STFU and sit yo arse down. God forbid if there was a state prison break or natural disaster that hit SC while you were whispering sweet nothings in your Latina lover's ear, then what??? He did ALL OF THAT and STILL hasn't stepped down from office. Get the hayale outta here with that shiznit, Mark Sanford. Go fly a kite.

That took a lot out of me. I'll talk about that damn Ensign another time...

3. This is why I love me some Chris Matthews (HARDBALL), a man after my own heart. He echoed my sentiments exactly when he said "WHO THE HELL IS CHENEY? Somebody needs to take a refresher course in the US Constitution..." Seriously, I need Dick Cheney to get hung by his well, you know where I'm going with this. He broke the law REPEATEDLY yet has the audacity to criticize the current administration. In the latest Bush administration fiasco, it has been discovered that Cheney secretly gave orders to the CIA. Keep ya trap shut, Dick because you are going to eat your words. Bad enough you thought you were the president for the past 8 years but then you repeatedly displayed a blatant disregard for the system of government that we have had in place for the past 233 years. If I were you Dick, I would STFU and STHD. And clearly I am not alone because as of today, there are 250,806 other people that agree with me as evidenced by the following page... http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=513450035&ref=profile#/shutupdick?ref=ts Feel free to join, folks! LOL

I'm telling you... This is going to be one heck of a summer. Let's face it, at least there is something else to talk about besides how crappy the weather has been!

Random Thoughts 7/9/09

Ok so if there is anyone that CLAIMS they know me, they know that I generally have a series of random thoughts going on in this head of mine. Sometimes it's just too much for me so I choose to express them when I feel necessary whether you want to hear them or not. LOL Seriously, there is never a dull moment in my mind. The wheels are always turning. At least we know my mind is hardly ever idle. Hahaha!

Today's random thoughts have a whole lot to do with things that are going on in the news. I was once quoted within the last few weeks as saying that "Summer TV suuuuuucks." Well, I'd like to retract that statement because as of late, there is a whoooooole lot to watch. I've been popping popcorn every night and sitting in front of the TV like they've been playing a Coming to America or The Color Purple Marathon.

Here goes...

1. Marion Barry... SMDH... WHAT can I say about him? All i wanna know is whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy there is a newspaper in circulation that features the headline..."You put me out in Denver 'cause I wouldn't suck your d&$k". Oh Em Geeeeeeee... NEED I SAY MORE? I'm gon' leave that one alone and let you read and hear the voicemails for yourself. Visit http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/display.php?id=37514 HAPPY READING!

2. Debbie Rowe needs to row, row, row her arse out of family court. Chick, you are NOT the MOTHER in the eyes of MJ's children. You CARRIED them, but you did not MOTHER them. There is a CLEAR difference between the two. And what is this that I'm hearing about the eggs not even belonging to her? WHAT IN THEEEEE WORRRRRRLD?!?!? She is a money-grubbing broke chick who signed papers that gave up any parental rights to those kids. Debbie Rowe, I'm gonna need you to ShutTFU and SitTFDown. There's only one thing I can't stand more than stupid people... Attention-seeking people.

3. Which takes me to our next idiot, Sarah Palin. Boy oh boy am I everrrrrrrr waiting for the shoe to drop! What does this chick have up her sleeve? And can someone tell her that if she is going to have a press conference, that it should be conducted INDOORS so we can do without hearing the geese mating calls in the background??? Then again, I could appreciate the geese drowning out that chick's inarticulate psycho babble.

Exhibit A: "well, in response to asking: "Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children's future from OUTSIDE the Governor's office?" It was four "yes's" and one "hell yeah!" The "hell yeah" sealed it - and someday I'll talk about the details of that..."
Uhhhh, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!? This same woman wants to run for president of the United States? Yeah OK.

Exhibit B: "Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig - I know he needs me, but I need him even more... what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT - that time is precious... the world needs more "Trigs", not fewer."
Uhhhh, WHAAAAAT?!?!? So now the world needs more people with Down Syndrome? Really, what is this woman talking about?

I'm gonna need Sarah Palin to come out and say what it is she really wants to say but just doesn't have the heart to do so. "I'm seeing GREEEEEN, snitches!" Screw this government job and SCREW Alaska! I'm taking this monkey show on the road!!! Btw, after her announcement, the number of fans on her FB page increased by 30,000 in a matter of a day. She's entertaining to say the least.

4. Steve McNair... Ok, not so much Steve but that dumb young chick he was seeing that ultimately took him and herself out. Then again, in the profound words of TLC, "Oh yes, son, I'm talking to you." Not to speak ill of the dead but Steve exercised poor judgment in dealing with a chick damn near half his age. Some 30 year old jumpoffs don't know how to stay in their lane. What the hayale would make anyone think a 20 year old could? This chick took him out because she thought he was "cheating" on her with another jumpoff. Ok not that I condone "jumpoffism", BUT I'm gonna need all women who seem to be OK with playing this part to take JumpOff 101 or at some other institutions it may be referred to as Sideline Ho 101.

First lesson in Jumpoffism is that you STAY YOUR ARSE in the lane labeled JUMPOFF or SIDELINE HO. If you are a jumpoff, guess what? you're probably NOT the only one dude is jumping off with. STAY IN YOUR LANE. If he cosigns for or buys you a ride, do not take this to mean that he is leaving his WIFE for you. Take it as payment to keep your arse quiet. Keep your mouth shut and, say it with me people... STAY IN YOUR LANE. Now I have NEVER subscribed to being a jumpoff, but I tell ya what... IF YOU KNOWWWWWWWW THAT YOU ARE THE SIDELINE HO, you need to fall back and be the best sideline ho you can be. We all can stand to be the best at what we do. Why expect anything less from a jumpoff?

5. So I was thinking, why do some people (read MEN) think it's okay to talk shiznit about their spouses? LOL Last night I was at the gym and there was a dude, let's just call him Johnny, talking so much STUFF about his home life. "Oh my wife isn't happy unless I'm unhappy..." "Oh, why should I open doors for you women? Women's lib exed that out years ago." "Oh, my wife knows that when I get home all she needs to have for me is the remote somewhere that I can find it and juice in the fridge." WHAT IN THEEEEE WORRRRRLD?!?!?!

Now, I personally have a problem with this because if I should EVER meet or see his wife in person, I may feel the need to straight up look at her like she is BooBoo the Fool for marrying this clown. I straight up told him, "Dude, you are a jackass and God bless the woman that had three kids for you and puts up with your BS." Truth be told, he's probably a punk arse at home and most likely got his arse in check. The only way he feels mannish again is when he comes to the gym and talks crap. LOL

6. BET %$&#*@%#$@)#^%$%$^@$^$%!?@*&^$%?$@?!@!#&#?$&(@?@&&#**@(#?><@?#>$<#?@@?$&$%%$*(@(*#&$%$$@!*!@@&#!%@?#?!@?@#?$$@?$?@?%$%^?&?&?*?*??......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Ok, enough about that.

Well folks, this is all I have to say for today. I'll be sure to come back and load all my random thoughts off on you. Now you'll have something to think about. LOL

Some Things I have Learned

1. You cannot grow in isolation. You can only develop your character when dealing with others. There is a huge difference between isolation and solitude. 2008 was a year of solitude for me. I'm ready to continue my metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly... "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." ~Maya Angelou

2. Obedience brings joy. I've learned to stop taking "matters into my own hands". Let go and let God. He is not like man, He fulfills His promises.

3. Help people without expecting to be repaid. Be a blessing to others and you will be blessed. Give and you shall receive...

4. When you fail to define yourself, you allow others to define you. And when you allow others to define you, you allow them to judge you by their definition.

5. Peace should be the initial organizing principle of your life. Before you act, ask yourself how it will impact your peace.

6. You cannot love your neighbor as yourself until you learn how to love yourself.

7. Perception goes all the way around the world before reality gets out of bed. Perception is your interpretation of what you see. You usually think that what you see is right. The condition of a person's heart often influences their perception. Our perceptions influence our decisions.

8. We are spiritual beings mastering the human experience.

9. To be meek does not make you a weak person. It means that you are humble and have a teachable spirit. Combat your pride and swallow it often.

10. Hopelessness is absolute despair with NO positive expectation. Please know that I am hopeful.

11. A person without a vision for the future will undoubtedly return to the past.

12. Life is a stewardship responsibility. WE DON'T OWN ANYTHING.

13. Maturity is a decision to accept responsibility. God does not give us authority without responsibility.

14. There are things about me that I can and cannot change. Maturity helps me to know the difference.

15. Accept the fact that you will not be liked or loved by everyone. Don't waste your time trying to please man.

16. Delay is not denial. "Not now" does not translate to NEVER.

17. Change is not an event, it is a process.

18. Don't throw your pearls to pigs. Everyone is not always ready or equipped to hear what you have to say at the time you want to say it. Sometimes things are better left unsaid (temporarily).

19. Some people are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Everyone can't be your friend forever. Deal with it.

20. I was still a little girl 7 years ago. Growing old is inevitable but growing up is an option. Maturity does not come with age. After all, there are a lot of childish 40-somethings in the world.

21. Death teaches us not to take life for granted. It is a constant reminder to human society.

22. Unfortunately, many people look to be in power so that others can serve them. In actuality, when you become a leader you should be looking for more ways to increase your servitude.

23. You have to look at where you want to go NOT where you don't want to be. That's the only way you'll end up there. Call things that are not as though they are!

24. We cannot get to where God wants us to be unless we make a decision to take a step in His direction.

25. Just because I attend church every week does not make me religious. That couldn't be further from the truth. Religious means that you adhere to certain routines, traditions and rituals many times not knowing what they mean or why you are doing them other than "being told to do so" as a child or thinking that it's the "right thing to do" or that it puts you in "right standing with God". Religion causes you to miss out on who God really is. If you think He only accepts you when you do "right", you really don't know Him at all. I am unashamedly in relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Best relationship I've ever been in because I've learned so much about myself and He is the only person who loves me unconditionally, sacrificially, and redemptively.

26. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It’s funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don’t know, you know … reporters.

TalentUnltd: Ummm, I KNOWWW you're not expecting me to finish your d@&n sentence. You did after all, attend SIX colleges. You should have a vast variety of vocabulary to complete your statement. But if I must... Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.

TalentUnltd: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin:Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…
TalentUnltd: (Visibly getting impatient) Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin:We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

TalentUnltd: (Eyebrows furrow) So basically, you are equating your foreign policy experience to that of someone who lives in Michigan and can drive across a bridge and be in Canada. So does that make every Michigander an expert in foreign policy, should they have to negotiate with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police? I'm just sayin'...

To be continued... (Ya'll know this interview is "gonna" have vast variety of parts... YOU ARE A WOMAN living your life as a man. Because you are pregnant, that does not make you a PREGNANT MAN!!! You are just bustin' hell wide open with this.

Ok, so the "man" had a baby. Whoop-dee-frickin-doo! Granted, every time a woman gives birth it is a miracle, but what I don't appreciate is how the media has "bigged this up" as if it is possible for a man to have a baby. Come on!!! You're not a man if you were born with female organs, I don't care WHAT the state of Oregon says. I mean, who the heck do you really think you are that you can change your gender to male but figure "Hey, I may as well keep my female reproductive organs so I can one day decide to have a baby and be the talk of the world..." Ridiculous... But then again, she (yes, I know I said "she" because he is not a she) said that it is not a male or female desire to have a baby, but it is a human right. Really? Give me a break, you propaganda freak. UGH!! Hate to break it to ya, but if you have female reproductive organs, you are a woman! And, if you are a woman "married" to another woman, guess what? You're not married! And guess what else? Just because you can grow a beard that definitely doesn't make you a man. Everyone of us knows a woman who may be a tad bit too hairy for her own good, but we still recognize her for the woman she is.

Pregnant Woman gives birth to a baby girl

Ralph Nader shoots himself in the foot...

Can someone please tell me what Ralph Nader knows about being Black? He's stupid and ignorant. Does that make him Black? HECK NO!! I find it so interesting that he and other ignoramuses assume that Black people only speak Ebonics. The last time I checked, there were some inarticulate White people in this country too. Clearly, he's one of them. So I guess Ralphie boy is going to teach Obama how to be "Blacker". Tilden High School, was fired as manager of the New York Mets late last night. I liked Willie and I still do. I believe that he was the main reason that The Mets came as far as they did within the last 3 seasons. Now, I will admit that for some reason, The Amazins haven't been able to get over the hump, but I don't think that was all Willie's fault. He can't make hitters hit and pitchers pitch. Lord knows, they get paid more than enough to do their jobs, but unfortunately after the team's late-season collapse last year, Willie's job was definitely hanging in the balance this year. And as predicted, he was let go last night. I, for one, will miss you Willie. I appreciate what you did for us the short time you were here. You have taken this in stride. NOT GUILTY on ALL FOURTEEN COUNTS!?!?!?!?

First of all, can we talk about how there were NO, I repeat, NO statutory rape charges filed against him? What the heck is THAT about? I don't even want to go into detail about that one. Anyone who saw the tape (I admit I did not see it because I didn't want to take part in child porn voyeurism - not at all judging anyone who did see it) could tell you that there was definitely sexual intercourse with a minor which in turn makes it statutory rape. Yet, no rape charges... WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Now, I can admit to jamming to R.Kelly songs back in the day. But you have got to admit, even if only to yourself, that the topic of his songs has not changed in the 16 years he's been in the game. Take away a "I Believe I Can Fly" and a "U Saved Me" and all you have is 23,543,478 different versions of "Sex Me" and "Feelin' on Yo' Booty". Did we forget that this "lyrical genius" has had a penchant for little girls all the way back when Aaliyah, God bless her soul, was 15 and they exchanged nuptials? The thing that upsets me the most is that there are so many people that have condoned his behavior. I can't for the life of me begin to understand how there were so many people that wanted to see this man get off! These are the same folks that have seen the tapes and know for a fact that the person engaging in intercourse with a minor was "The R" himself. I just ask these folks one thing... What if that was your daughter? Would you be wishing, praying, and hoping for him to get off then? Is this all so that you can bop your head and tap your feet to the latest hot hit that speaks of nothing but lewd acts? And now, one can only wonder if he was writing those songs with under-aged females in mind. YUCK!

R. Kelly has made some questionable statements to the press in recent years. In 2003, he compared his legal troubles to Osama Bin Laden in an interview with Blender saying to the magazine, "Bin Laden is the only one who knows exactly what I'm going through". Look folks, this the same man who was once quoted saying, "I'm the Ali of today. I'm the Marvin Gaye of today. I'm the Bob Marley of today. I'm the Martin Luther King, or all the other greats that have come before us. And a lot of people are starting to realize that now." Say what now? How dare "Kells" lump himself into a group with MLK, Jr.?

He needs Jesus, FOR REAL now. And I'm not talking about putting out an album claiming that he's found God and that he's been forgiven of all his shortcomings and mishaps. People like "The Pied Piper" make it bad for Christians who are really sold out for Christ. What message is he sending to those who don't know Christ? That it's OK to mess up, write a song about it, and all your sins have been forgiven and thrown into the sea of forgetfulness? It doesn't work like that when you go back and continue to commit the same sin again and again. True repentance is when you confess your sin and really make a true and valiant effort, with God's help, to overcome that obstacle. Yes, God is an awesome God whose grace and mercy endures forever. But He is also a God of judgment, the part of Him that many people don't like to or want to acknowledge. And because I do know that part of God, I know in my Spirit that this is not over. God is the ultimate judge and He WILL have the last word. I certainly do hope for his sake, that Robert Sylvester Kelly was NOT the man on those tapes.

Is it just me or do you think it's time for Hill to back off???

OK, I'm mad. Hillary is really showing the "classless and tasteless" side that L mentioned. I don't know if I would have taken it that far yesterday, but this morning... I definitely must agree. She is really trying to do Barack and this Democratic party in. This chick is in the process of running a second freakin' campaign all because she feels entitled to the VP spot. She has yet to concede and she is the topic of every news show this morning. She wants to be the center of attention, well she's gotten her wish. Her supporters need to wake up and smell the coffee and see that it's clearly not about them and the party but IT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ABOUT HER! She's bamboozled all the women's activists into thinking this is about them. Her TRUE character has come to light but many of her supporters are blinded by that light. Bow out gracefully? That is not in Hill's vocabulary. It's sickening and I'm sad to say that my respect for her is diminishing by the hour. Her actions have taken things past "I'm not a quitter" to "I'm a sore LOSER". I'm sorry if you Hillary fans don't agree, but this is REAL TALK.

She is about to piss off all those Democrats on the Hill. All those Senate committees that exist won't be trying to see any parts of her. She can forget about the Committee of Foreign Relations, Committee of Appropriations, or Committee of Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. As a good friend said, "F#$@ around, she will be Chair of the Committee of Doorknobs and Broomsticks" by the time this year is over. I could hear Chuck Schumer now... Shame on Hillary. She is a disgrace to the female gender because all she has done is made us look like petty, catty, b&$%*es. All of her tactics have shown how much of a "woman" she is. You think people aren't sitting around saying, "See, a woman could never run this country. She would start so much trouble because she didn't get her way and just couldn't let some things go." I'm a woman and I feel that way. Ridiculous. I believe she could have opened so many more doors for women if she'd done things differently. Because of her, when a woman does make a stand on something truly valid, she won't be heard nor given a fair shake. Now, any woman that speaks up or takes a stand is going to get the "Hillary" stamp. "Oh, she's pulling a Hillary, she's not gonna let this thing go." Now that's effed up.

A politician is SUPPOSED to work for the greater good of all not themselves. Hillary is no longer a politician. She's just a big crybaby who is making things difficult for everyone else around her who has done better, fair and square... well as fair as politics can allow.

SO WACK...

I'm watching MSNBC and Pat Buchanan is sitting there trying to justify why Hillary Clinton made her assassination remark. He and his friend Peter Fenn are actually trying to use the "She's tired" excuse. "She has to be tired, 18 months of 18 hour days is grueling..." This is the same man that lumped all Black churches together (when Jeremiah Wright's 15 sec. video clip was replayed all over the world wide web and news stations) saying, "If this is what they're teaching in the Black church, I don't want to go there". He blasted Obama for having anything to do with Rev. Wright and how he couldn't believe that he sat up in that man's church for over 20 years, yada yada... Here he is this morning, talking about "I don't think she meant anything by it, but unfortunately her adversaries are going to pile it on and make more out of it unfairly". That is an obviously racist double-standard. Instead of looking at the content of what Rev. Wright said and saying that although he didn't agree with what was said or how it was said, but could understand what he meant by it, he chose to chew Wright up and spit him out. Oh, that's right, how could he possibly understand why Wright said what he said years ago? He is living in the ideal of what this country should be in that, "All men are created equal." Because I am trying my best to think about WWJD, I will refrain from saying what I really want to say about Pat Buchanan and others like him. So instead, I'll suggest that he take a walk instead of "$%#@ off".

SIDEBAR (since this is supposed to be about the blatant bias displayed in the media): Come on!! Wake up people!!! Don't you see? Jeremiah Wright's purpose (whether he realized it, which he clearly didn't, or not) in this whole thing was to get people to come out from under that cloud and recognize this country for what it is! Racism IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL! After his shenanigans at the National Press Club a few short weeks ago, I admit, he blew an excellent opportunity to make a profound statement, to get people talking about this issue that is still a problem. Instead, he allowed his ego to get the best of him, when he should have known better and recognized that it AIN'T, yes I said AIN'T about him. This ain't about any of us. It's MUCH MORE BIGGER THAN US!

For the record, I'm not saying she meant to offend. But dang, you can't be running ads about "who can you trust at 3 in the morning?", when we can't trust you to keep your foot out of your mouth at 3 in the afternoon! Although she may not have intended to offend or make a disturbing reference, I think people are giving her way too much frickin leeway on this (among many others) issue. The very same people that tried to defame Obama are excusing her ONCE AGAIN. This is so wack and blatantly racist. And Hill's SAPology (PLEASE READ) was not in the least, one of humility. She took no blame nor did she even ask for forgiveness when she "expressed regret" in making her statement. Dang, you cried on frickin national television but you can't come off your high-horse and say "I'm sorry"? Does she even understand how many negative things her statement implied? So frickin entitled and arrogant. So for her, I'll suggest that she go fly a kite.

That's why I love Keith Olbermann. He keeps it real.
Please watch his May 23rd Special Comment...
He listed 18 things that Americans had to "forgive" Hillabeans (love RJ for that! LOL) for and everything he listed did happen and is TRUE! Then he tops it off by saying good night and good luck. LOL!!! Maybe she should watch this too, because clearly she doesn't realize the implications of her comment. A comment that she made MORE THAN ONCE. Yeah, really. She said it back in March to Time Magazine and again yesterday. As a good friend said today, "Shame on Hillary Clinton, but worse, shame on her supporters who blindly follow a hopelessly desperate woman/family. "

I can't wait to see how this all unfolds in November. One thing that has surely been revealed to me is that this election is much bigger than any one of us. God has His hands all up and through this. Mark my words.

"And we know that God caused everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." Ok, I know, left up to true blue A.I. fans and I would be put in front of a firing squad blindfolded with a cigarette nervously hanging between my lips but it's painfully true...the original thrill is gone! So, how does one know when they've lost that lovin' feelin' for good ole A.I.? A few reasons are listed below...

You don't watch American Idol as religiously as you did when it first came out...

You only watch American Idol during the first few weeks to laugh at the <a style="font-style: italic; I beat 9 other guys at their own game!! Fantasy Football is not as glamorous as it seems. Boy, have I endured the trash-talking, the trade vetoes, the freakin' hateration, all because I was THE GIRL!! With that said, I just wanna say...NA NA NA BOO BOO!!!! I finished third in the playoffs, and 2nd place during the regular season. After starting out on the shaky side, I managed my team to the best of my amateur ability and did one heck of a job if I do say so myself!

So now, the big thing has been the guys trying to find out who the chick is. Yeah, you heard it here first. I'm the hot commodity...LOL. The commisioner of our fantasy league (who happens to be a good friend from high school) emailed me the other day asking me to send him a recent picture of myself so that he can get the other guys in the league off of his back. According to him, they've been asking questions about me. Who I am... what I look like... you know all that stuff that guys ask, I don't even want to imagine what other questions came up! LOL

Now as an evil wicked joke, I could have sent him a picture of some random not-so-hot chick but then again, how would that have helped me? I might find my future husband this way. Can't afford to pass up that opportunity. Even if nothing remotely serious comes out of it, hey I'll make a couple of friends that I can flirt with online! I can look at this as a cheap form of entertainment...

Anyway, kudos to me for winning third place in my very first fantasy football season. Can't wait til next year, I'm coming back with avengeance! And for all you ladies out there who wanna try your hand at fantasy football next year, I'm startin' up my own league...JUST FOR GIRLS!!! Holla at me if you're interested!

As always, I'll try my best to keep you posted...
~TalentUnltd

My Top Five Things I Cannot and WILL NOT Live Without

With the exception of My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, there are tons of things that I can do without. For example, my summer house in the West Hamptons (in my wildest dreams...), that awful mid-season replacement for Lost, Daybreak, that crappy a$$ My9 network (formerly known as UPN) primetime programming (really, what the faheezy???) , a loser boyfriend, (some people enjoy torturing themselves I suppose) But...I choose not to go on without:

5. Crystal Light On The Go Packets:
How about this folks? Do you hate drinking water like I do? Well, Crystal Light On The Go Packets are a surefire way of making me feel like I'm drinking juice instead of water. You can mix one on the go packet with a 16.9 oz. bottle of Poland Spring or whichever brand you fancy. You can drink as much as you want because it's sugarfree. But you know what they say about sugarfree foods and beverages... so that's a risk you may have to take in order to partake of a little "juicy water" as I have so cleverly dubbed it if I do say so myself.

4. Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop Mini Bags:
There is something to be said for being able to eat an entire bag of microwave popcorn and only taking in 100 (you heard it hear first, folks) 100 calories!!! First of all, the fact that it takes less time to pop is one of its best features, especially for a greedy pig like me. As if waiting an extra 2 to 2-1/2 minutes is really going to cause me to starve to death. Chile, if you know like I know that's what it feels like... Another tasty tidbit given to me by my girl Bee: sprinkle a little grated parmesan cheese and you'll have yourself a cheeeeesy popcorn treat! I'll sit down and watch of her BRAVO rated movies when it comes out on cable. You know I can't afford to go to the movies in New York City!

3. Clear Deodorant (NO WHITE MARKS!!)
Need I elaborate?? Ok, if I must... How many times have you found yourself pi$$ed off because this top you were eyeing went on sale and there was only one left in your size and you take it off the clothes rack to find to your disgust and dismay: BIG A$$ WHITE STREAKS OF SOME RANDOM CHICK'S DEODORANT WHO COULD NOT BOTHER TO TAKE THE TIME TO CAREFULLY AND GINGERLY PUT ON AND TAKE OFF THE ITEM WHILE TRYING IT ON?!?!? Enough said...

2. TEXT MESSAGING ABBREVIATIONS!!
There's nothing like knowing that you can skip all of the formalities of making a phone call especially when it's someone that you know you really don't feel like talking to but you just need to know the answer to one itty bitty little question all by just typing in a couple of letters that spell out an entire statement so that you can move on with your life without having to have a 10-minute conversation to ask a 20-second question and recieve at 5-second response. For example, while shopping for your coworker's baby shower gift you realized that you forgot the invitation at home. You know the one person that can answer your question is Annoying A$$ Amy from Accounting. Instead of calling her you can just text her like: Da baby MorF? She doesn't even have to type an entire sentence. Her response could simply be M if it's a boy or F if it's a girl... Ok, maybe that was a really wack example, but let's keep it real, the text messaging craze has become a good friend to many, especially when you don't feel like talking to a mofo...

And my NUMBER ONE THING that I Cannot and Will Not Live Without is... ... ...
DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!

1. OptimumOnline Digital iO-DVR ultimately known as TIVO
Once you get some "Control Live TV" running through your veins, there is NOOOO TURNING BACK!!! You will always pay your cable bill on time just to ensure that all your "tivo" capabilities remain intact. I can record two shows on two different stations at the same time and watch a third show that has already been saved onto the DVR. Half of the time, I don't even watch the show at the exact time that it comes on so that I can fast forward through the commercials! Woo-hoo!!!Woo-hoo-hoo!!!Woo-hoo!!!Woo-hoo-hoo!!! (Insert Theme Song for VONAGE here) I no longer have to worry about missing one of my favorite shows to watch one of my other favorite shows!! If you're not up on the Tivo craze, you really need to make that happen in '07. As much as I loved teaching tomorrow's leaders, within the last two years teaching began to feel more like a job. Longer hours and lower wages!! Anywhoooooooooo, I am pleased to say that I will be moving into a different aspect of the education field and I feel like The Pointer Sisters.

Score: Me vs. The World 2 - 0

FOOTBALL AIN'T JUST FOR GUYS ANYMORE

So about six weeks ago, I signed up to play in a Fantasy Football League. No, I'm not playing for money. I'm a first-timer, just getting my feet wet before STOMPIN' WIT DA BIG DAWGS!! At the end of Week 5 I am the proud owner of a .600 record and I'm doing better than more than half the guys in the league. Of course, I am the only chick in the league and I happen to be doing quite well. I'm in 4th place (out of 12) based on points scored and 5th place based on wins (3-2 as of 10/9). I do hold the title in another category though... Talking Smack!! I sure know how to dish it out and I'm very good at taking it as well. I've had guys threaten to "spank my azz" and it hasn't deterred me one bit. I kindly let them know that they will kiss it after the week is over and they are dealt a loss by Big Neek!! HA!! The name of my team: DEVASTATINGDELTA... I know that sounds super girly but the way I figure it, being a female football fan, guys must be made especially aware of my femininity. By the way, here's my team Avatar:

<img src="http://lookup.avatars.yahoo.com/wimages?yid=njbrathwaite&size=large&type=png" alt="Yahoo! La Republica Dominicana es una isla muy bonita. ¡Las personas eran tan hermosas y el alimento era muy delicioso!
Hello everyone! I'm baaaack! The Dominican Republic is a very pretty island. The people were so beautiful and the food was very delicious!

I am happy and sad to be back! Happy, because there is no place like home! Sad, because there was 80+ degree weather and sun everyday! I relaxed and relaxed and relaxed all day, everyday. My stay in the Dominican Republic was pretty much uneventful, just as I wanted it to be. The flight down there was another story. Despite the fact that everytime I get on an airplane, I conjure up awful images of the plane going down like it did on Lost, the flight was very smooth. I wish that I could say that it was uneventful. One word: KIDS!! Kids and the parents who let them act like lunatics!

I know it is really easy for someone like me who has no kids to complain and scrutinize people who let their children misbehave in public, but COME ON ALREADY!!! Just because your child is that, a child, that does not give them the OK to be BUCK WILD especially when it impedes on the comfort of others around them. Let's face it, you cannot or should I say SHOULD NOT have your children thinking it's alright to kick the back of a person's seat numerous times and not apologize for it. Damn, the parents could at least apologize FOR their children. Some people just don't have ANY manners!

My flight was supposed to leave at 1 pm. We got word that the flight was late coming from Santo Domingo into New York and that the plane would not be taking off until 2:30. At about 2:45, we started boarding the plane. All I know is that 2:45 soon or (not so soon) became 3:45 and then 4:45. Why? The plane could not take off until the latch on the medical kit inside the plane was repaired. Turns out that the plane was late coming to New York because it had to turn around and go back to Santo Domingo because one of the passengers required medical attention. So, my guess is that when the crew tended to the sick or injured passenger, the latch broke?!? OK, so it's 5:30 and the plane has finally taken off. I was doing OK until THOSE people allowed THEIR kids to run up and down the aisles of the freakin' plane!!!!! You know what? Enough about those damn people and their damn kids. I could go on and on about those damn kids but I will no longer.

We finally arrived in Santo Domingo and everything went smoothly from there. The flight was only 3 hours long. We got to our hotel at about 10:30 pm Dominican time (their an hour ahead of us here in NY). Not much went on for my mom and I that night, so we just chilled and soaked up the humidity. The next four days were sun-kissed, warm-weathered bliss! Moms and I basically chilled, laid on the beach and drank Pina Coladas among other things. I made sure every dime of that all-inclusive trip was utilized. I ate and ate and ate, drank and drank and drank, tanned and tanned and tanned.

The second night that I was there, a man sent me a drink. I didn't know that men still did that! Turns out he was a native by the name of Elvis. I didn't officially meet him until the next day, when he saw me by myself on the beach. He was a few years younger than me but a sweet guy nonetheless. He was only there for a day. He and some of his friends took a couple of days off from work to come to the beach. He was leaving that day and I guess he wanted to make sure we had a chance to speak. The people in D.R. were really pleasant and their skin was sooooooo beautiful. No blemishes, no acne, nada. Must be something in the water!

The timing for this trip could not have been any better. It was freakin' 12 degrees in NY when I was in D.R. I was soooooo happy not to be stuck at home like I was two years ago during that big a$ blizzard. When I got back to New York this time, the temperature had just broken 40 degrees. I had a wonderful time with my mom and read a great book entitled The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. If I had a book club, that book would be tops on my list! As for D.R., I will definitely go back again. The people were gracious, the food was delicious and the weather was beautiful. I would most likely stay at a resort on the Northern Coast so that I can see a different part of the island.

Oh Say Can You See.........

So I woke up this morning as I do on any morning that I have to go to work, feeling like, UGHHHHH, yet thankful that I was able to wake up and that I have a job to go to. I knew that there was supposed to be a special ceremony for the students who have perfect attendance for the first half of the school year. I heard that there were supposed to be some representatives from the New York Mets coming but I didn't really sweat it.

I love sports and I am a fan of New York, so I will support any New York sports team. I grew up really liking the Mets and was super duper in love with them in '86, the year that they won the World Series against Boston (BOOOOOOO!!!!!) when I was about 11 years old. (For those of you who don't know, New Yorkers and Bostonians have the biggest sports rivalry known to man.) As I got older, I eventually grew to like the New York Yankees because they were doin' their thing in the late 90's. Still, I enjoyed attending Mets games and still do attend 2 or 3 each year.

But I digress....... Nevertheless, I heard about this special assembly and also knew that I would probably not be able to attend because there were not enough students in my class that had perfect attendance that would allow me to bring my entire class down to the auditorium. To my surprise, I received a phone call in my classroom at about 8:45 with a message from the principal that I (not my class) needed to report to the auditorium. I had no idea what I was in for when I got there. One of our best student vocalists was having trouble hitting the high notes of The Star Spangled Banner and the principal asked if I could give it a shot. The problem is that I am an alto and I too were having trouble hitting the high note. A sistah was not trying to strain her voice because my gig was the very next night. Well, I changed the key. I began singing in a lower key but my fellow colleague who was playing the keyboard could not make the adjustment. He suggested that I sing a cappella. Hey, anyone that knows me and has heard me sing could probably tell you that I feel right at home singing that way. So I was like, "KEWL, no problem, my man!"

So 12:30 rolls around and I happened to be around when this large group of people entered our school. There were police and school safety officers everywhere, but through the crowd I could see Tom Glavine, Carlos Beltran, and Xavier Nady. There were lots of other people from the Mets organization, from their media relations and marketing departments down to the team mascot, Mr. Met. I must admit, I was a little star-struck. Anyway, the show must go on. At approximately 1:00, our ceremony was about to begin. The 3 Mets players were escorted into the auditorium, receiving loud cheers from the nearly 400 students that occupied the seats. Everyone was asked to stand for The Color Guard processional and my singing of the National Anthem. I received a rousing ovation and several looks of satisfaction from my principal, assistant principals, and many others including a couple of reps from the Mets' media relations department. Our school pep squad and steel band performed their hearts out. What was especially cool was that the steel band played "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and the Mets players absolutely loved it and were seemingly intrigued by the skills of these middle school students from little ‘ole Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

By the end of the assembly, I was approached by the two reps from the media relations department about singing the National Anthem at Shea Stadium. In addition, they also asked the principal about having our student steelband perform as well! WOWWWWW!!!! So in the words of the Pointer Sisters, I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it, OH YEAH!! I will definitely keep you all posted on my Shea Stadium debut. Hopefully I will see some of you there!

Next Up!

"Yo I believe that's me! I currently sing back-up for a new up and coming artist named Cariz. She's cool peeps and has a lot of energy! I usually do solo gigs like weddings, christenings, funerals and talent shows, particularly the one that the other teachers and I put on at my school each year. I absolutely love to perform, so I jumped at the opportunity to sing on stage with a live band. Although, I am not flying solo for this gig, it has truly been a wonderful experience for me! I've gotten a lot of practice blendin' and harmonizin' with the other sisters that are singing the background vocals along with me.

Startin' to get antsy in anticipation for the night to come, but it's all good, I am confident that we will sound great! I will definitely keep you posted. They are the ones who inspired me to start up my own blog. I always seem to amuse myself as well as my closest friends and relatives with my "random thoughts" (Hey B, I see you!) so I said to myself, "Self, why the heck shouldn't you archive those thoughts for the world to see? Everyone else is doing it, why not me?" It is actually quite therapeutic especially since I know I am not the ONLY person in the world that may be thinking some of the same thoughts as I, although there are many times when I do feel like I am alone. But who really gives two rats a$$es? As Gloria Gaynor once said, I will survive.

So I say to you world, and everyone beyond, welcome to the life of a Single Sistah in the City. We've only just begun!
